Hemp Hearts

Hemp hearts are very underrated in the nutrition and food world! They are a very well-rounded seed since they contain a unique nutritious profile. They contain Alpha linoleic and alpha linolenic fatty acids, also known as omega 6 and omega 3. Omega 3 and 6 have many health benefits, including helping support the immune system.

Hemp seeds are also very high in protein! They are 33% protein and they contain a great amount of fiber. They contain all essential amino acids, so they are a complete protein. Complete proteins are rare amongst plant-based proteins since they can mostly be found in animal based proteins. It is also an easily digested protein.

So what can we make with them…

Protein Energy Balls: 


1 cup of walnuts 
1 cup of coconut flakes
1 tsp of chia seeds
1 tbsp of Hemp hearts
2 tbsp agave
1 tsp vanilla extract

Add everything into a food processor/blender. Blend until it is an even mixture. Add agave to taste. Roll into balls and then roll them in more hemp  hearts!
